Everyone has heard from their insurer that you should keep a list of what you own, but if you’re like most people, you may not know how to organize such an inventory or even where to start. Luckily, Fox over at SquawkFox.com created 15 worksheets to help you keep track of what it is that you own. The first 12 pages are examples of how the worksheets should be filled out and each page is broken down by a specific room. The final 3 are blanks for you to begin your own home inventory.

The most important part of the home inventory is to update, repeat and store somewhere safe. Kind of like this, but slightly safer… Ok, a lot safer, like maybe at a bank, inside a safe deposit box. After all, “What use is a home inventory if it burns in a house blaze or gets whisked away in a whirling twister? None at all.” We encourage you to take the time and document what you own and double check that all of your belongings are covered because in the event of an accident or natural disaster, it may actually help you get back on your feet quicker.
